Charge

The UCDRA Nomination Committee will recruit retirees willing to serve as members of the Executive Board or association committees.

Committee charge:

The UCDRA Nomination Committee will recruit retirees willing to serve as members of the Executive Board or association committees.

Committee duties:

  • Identify potential candidates for officers, members-at-large, and committee chairs in compliance with the organizational by-laws; potential candidates are recruited through continued personal interaction and written communications;
  • Present a proposed slate of candidates to the Executive Board;
  • Serve as a consultant to the Executive Board on replacements for Executive Board members who are unable to complete their terms of office.

Selection timeline and details:

  • Terms of service will be for the fiscal year, July 1 through June 30; newly elected members assume their duties on the first day of the fiscal year following the election;
  • Nominees must be members of the association or be willing to join;
  • Board members and committee chairs must be willing and able to attend monthly Executive Board meetings and association events as available;
  • Timeline:
    • December—identify open positions for the following year;
    • December—submit an article for winter edition of the association newsletters, inviting members to nominate themselves or others for open positions;
    • January—begin contacting potential candidates to ask if they would be willing to serve; if non-members they must join the association to serve on the board
    • March—present slate of officers and members-at-large to Executive Board; the Executive Board will discuss the candidates and approve the official slate;
    • March—directly following the March meeting, submit the slate to association newsletter;
    • April—present recommended list of committee chairs to Executive Board. The UCDRA president appoints these positions.
    • May—the slate of candidates is presented for election to the general membership at the spring general membership meeting for election. Additional nominations may be made from the floor.

Committee annual report:           

The Committee will submit a one-page annual report to the UCDRA president in June of each year, to include a listing of the committee members, a summary of the committee’s activities for the year as well as recommendations and suggestions for the future.
